Description:
Reed Grass is a cool season ornamental grass that does
quite well during the dog days of summer. It moves gently with even the slightest
breeze when other grasses have gone dormant. Good for container plantings, screens, foundation plantings, massing or as a specimen.
Plants go well with: Coreopsis,
Liatris, Sedum, Rudbeckia, Echinacea, and Miscanthus. |

This plant
tolerates some drought and flooding and will grow in moist soil but prefers well-drained,
loamy, sandy or clay soils. The pH preference is an acidic to slightly alkaline
(6.8-7.7) |

Care: |
Cut back stems to about
6" in late winter or early spring. Propagate by division in the fall or
spring. Fertilize with Plant-tone approximately April
1st, May 20th, July 4th, August 15th & October 30th. Keep granular fertilizers
off foliage and away from stems and trunks. Use 1/2 the recommended rate of
fertilizer for new plantings.

| Description: This grass has a wonderful upright growth habit
making it very useful to place behind perennials with spreading or rounded shape.
The feathery plumes emerge in early summer and ripen to handsome wheat colored seed heads
by fall. The seed heads can be used as either fresh
or dried accents to flower arrangements. 2001 Perennial Plant of the Year. |
