Description:

A profuse blooming plant that is compact and bushy.  Must be mulched for protection during the winter months.

 

Common Name: Bugloss, Summer Forget-Me-Not
Botanical Name: Anchusa
Type: Perennial
Soil Preference: Anchusa will grow in moist soil but prefers well-drained, loamy or sandy soils with a pH of neutral to slightly alkaline (7.0 - 7.7)
Light Requirements: Full sun, partial sun, partial shade
Attributes: Good for naturalizing and to be used in the border or as a ground cover
Pests: None serious
Diseases: Crown rot may occur in wet, soggy soils
Care: Heavy mulching is needed in our area.  Divide in spring if necessary.  Fertilize with Plant-tone or a water-soluble fertilizer.
